Assisting Families

ASSISTANCE TO LOW INCOME CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES.

Project II consists of assisting children of low income families in emergency situations to meet their basic necessities by keeping funds and resources available for food, water and related situations. Additionally, a needs assessment is conducted every six months to determine areas of need with which PROMESA can help (e.g., food, clothes, blankets). It is our goal that the number of families gradually increases as allowed by fund availability. Families undergoing major crisis will be considered for program participation or a one time program assistance will be given to recover from hardship and/or meet basic immediate needs. As the organization grows and more funds and resources are available, the ultimate goal is to help these families by providing the parents of children who live in extreme poverty with a skill trade (e.g., learning to make clothes) that will empower them to be able to eventually provide for their children’s basic needs on their own. When ready, the organization will also provide basic assistance (food, clothes) to participating families during their participation in skill training programs. Additionally, children participating in the program will be assisted in meeting their basic educational needs (e.g., uniforms, shoes, school supplies). Parents will also be provided with workshops to teach them about effective parenting.
